Maharajapuram Srinivasan to perform at our Temple on June 29, 2010


We are delighted to inform you that Sri Maharajapuram Srinivasan is performing a special Carnatic Music Concert at our temple on Tuesday, June 29th at 7:30 PM.

Sri Maharajapuram S. Srinivasan is the grandson of 'Sangeetha Kalanidhi' Sri Maharajapuram Viswanatha Iyer and son of 'Sangeetha Kalanidhi' Sri Maharajapuram Santhanam, veterans in the field of Carnatic Music.

Sri Maharajapuram Srinivasan, an acclaimed musician in his own right has been performing music concerts since 1986. He has had the good fortune of being the primary disciple of both his grandfather as well as his father and has thus imbibed their rich musical heritage. He has performed all over India in all the leading Sabhas including The Music Academy, The Indian Fine Arts Society, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Tamil Isai Sangam in Chennai (India) and other Sabhas in New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. He is also regularly performing for the Doordarshan and the All India Radio and is an ‘A’ grade artiste. He has accompanied his father, the illustrious Sri Maharajapuram Santhanam in all his concerts both in India as well as abroad.

Endowed with a fine feeling for melody, he is striving to admirably combine the Lakshana and Lakshiya styles handed down to him by his ancestors and desires to prove his mettle as a chip of the old block.

Sri Subramaniya Swami Mahothsavam begins on June 5, 2010

On behalf of the President, Board of Trustees, Employees and Volunteers of Richmond Hill Hindu Temple, your Webmaster takes great pleasure in inviting you all for the Annual 15-day Sri Subramaniya Swami (Lord Muruga) Mahothsavam Festival starting with the Flag Hoisting ceremony on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 11:00 AM. The Chariot Festival is slated for Friday, June 18. The De-hoisting of the Flag is on the same day as 'Theertham' and is on June 19. Daily Abhishekam for Lord Muruga and His Consorts, Yaaga Puja, Sthamba Puja, Vasantha Mantapa Puja, Procession of Sri Muruga with Consorts in various Vaahanaa (carriers) to the accompaniment of traditional Nadaswaram music, both in the mornings and evenings, are daily features of the Mahothsavam.
